War of The New World

Gnoll Raids, and Witch Trials
and plenty of flowers to go around...

Upon being stationed with the two soldiers in the Eastern side of town Kai, the Gunslinger, and the Crusader all had an excellent view of the mountains. Unfortunately they also had some chatty soldiers that began to tell what would sound like camp fire horror stories about a being that lives just beyond the mountains they were looking at. The being lived in the swamp at the base of [[Hell’s Point Peak]]. From what the soldiers stated this “Lurker” comes down from the mountains at night to steal children smelling of lavender found in the river to the West.

Feeling curious once their watch was done for the day the adventurers separated and began to explore various parts of the small village. The population of Charleston is only around one-hundred and fifty, and there are approximately fifty guards that aren’t counted within the population since they are stationed by the military, and aren’t permanent residents. Among the few shops that were their Kai spotted a florist. He decided to stock up on miscellaneous possessions to use in future combat so he decided a perfect item would be a flower pot.

As Kai entered a bell rang, and he heard a female voice call out asking whoever entered to come in the back. Behind the counter there was a doorway that led to a back room where Kai saw a strange sight. A lady wearing a colorful dress with long murky green hair was cutting up various flowers to plant once more. The reason why this was strange was that she had short pointed ears that resembled that of an Elf, but she had the build of a Human woman. Further questioning revealed she was simply a Half-Elf, and that she had almost always lived with Humans.

Unfortunately for Kai his awkwardness quickly led to a very bewildered woman who sold him an empty pot that he overpaid for since he did not understand the value of currency and she was too confused to tell him that he had made a mistake. Kai decided to name his new empty flower pot “Stephano”, and traveled to the local Longhouse for dinner, and a drink. Unfortunately for the woman this was not the last strange visitor she would have.

Within the longhouse Kai began his enjoyment, and not long after he arrived the Crusader finally entered into the tavern. While Kai began his meal, eating stew that was the night’s dinner, the Crusader was being questioned by the Mayor of the town, Jonathon Wilston, who believed the town’s florist was an Elven spy, and he wished for the Crusader to weed her out since he was a member of the Church, and could be trusted. They discussed the rest in the Mayor’s office so they could have a more private conversation since Kai was eavesdropping.

The Crusader determined that the Mayor was obviously crazed, and that he was not going to stop until he had finally rid his town of the florist who was apparently an “Elven Witch”. The Witch in question’s name was Ema Ocono as the Mayor finally revealed, and the Mayor was going to be trying her for his accusations on the very next day. Deciding to investigate further so as not to convict someone who was innocent the Crusader made his way to the florist to ask her more questions. When he arrived he had seen Rolind creeping her out with wanting to examine “a living Elven specimen”, but eventually she stated that she felt uncomfortable with that, and that she wished for him to stop bothering her.

Further questioning revealed that she was not a witch, and had always been criticized because of her Elven heritage. Upon this discovery the group decided to inquire as to why she always went into the forests to the North even though the Mayor told her not to since he believed this was where the Elves were hiding out, and he claimed she was giving them information on the cities perimeters, guard hours, and what to expect upon entering the city. She claimed that the best of herbs could be found in within the Northern Forests, and that she had never even seen an Elf in those forests.

The group decided to have her show them where these flower patches were and she led them to the Northern Forests being careful to go eastward first to avoid the Gnolls. It was nighttime when they first started their way into the forests, but luckily they were never ambushed by anything. Within the forest she showed several different flower patches in the area, and was helpful in identifying many of the plants, and pointing out the Gnoll encampment when they reached the Western boarder of the forest. The Gnolls were nearly a mile away so there was no fear of being discovered as she showed a patch of flowers that had the precious herb Blood Leaf growing off of a tree on top of the flower patched hillside. Rolind quickly took this opportunity to harvest it since both he, and Levi were still fairly injured from the fight with the bandits (Blood Leaf is a medicinal herb in the New World).

Further within the forest Ema had shown everyone a very beautiful patch of land with a water fall, and a small pond that it fell into with flowers lining the boarders of the pond. She pointed out grave-root was around the area, and the group questioned why such a herb would be found in this area that seemed to be vibrant with life. Eventually Rolind decided to dig not trusting that it was simply a bird that had died. This dig revealed that there was a half-eaten femur bone of an Elf below the ground. The group was quickly reminded of the Lurker, and believed that this may have been something that it had been munching on before.

Quickly the group left believing that the Lurker may still yet be lingering around the area. When they arrived back in Charleston they escorted Emma to her shop, and went back to the infirmary to sleep since they hadn’t been shown the barracks just yet. A half a night’s sleep before they were woken by an angry Marshal Sommers who was spitting out the water Roland had replaced his Vodka with. A short argument later, and the group decided to prep for the upcoming trial that was at 9am.

Feeling uncertain of the outcome of the trial Kai decided to visit Emma with the proposal that she travel to his homeland so that she would no longer be persecuted by the Humans, or the Elves since she did not fit in with either. She told him that someday she would love to see his homeland, but for now she wanted to clear up her name before she saw amazing new lands, but she seemed to give an uncertain promise that if things went sour at the trial she would run, and use the materials Kai had given in order to make it to his homeland.

With that Kai, Rolind, the Crusader, and the Gunslinger all traveled off to meet one of the persecutors named Abigail Veiss. From this point they were met by a thick and stout woman who was obviously from a rural area. She was belligerent after she realized the group was defending Emma. Earlier it had been revealed by Emma that this woman was angered since Emma had run her out of her florist business since Emma was the only one willing to go into the Northern Forest, and on top of that it was revealed that the dreams this woman had may have been from the local fauna called Julio’s Weed that is often mistook for a pipe weed named The Emperor’s Gift. Julio’s Weed was significant since it was actually hallucinogenic while The Emperor’s Gift was simply for smoking and relaxing with.

After having her show her pipe weed the party had then found Julio’s Weed within the various bits of Emperor’s Gift she had. Unfortunately she then claimed it was good thing her father was not home since he would have surely beaten them all at that point. Kai took this as a challenge and rushed to the fields where her father could be located. A quick brawl led to Kai standing victorious over the poor farmer. Rolind quickly patched him up, and just afterwards the bells signifying that the trial was about to begin started to ring.

After a brief introduction a Templar had ridden all the way from [[Julio’s Landing]] to do a quick trial. He was very weary from the unreasonable demands to have such a high ranking official come all the way out to such a small town to do a trial that appeared to be nothing more than paranoia. Luckily this worked for the defense greatly. It was a quick trial that ended in it being postponed for a bit over a year since the judge wanted the sorceress Eldrassa Contolio to conduct her investigation on the magic the Elves have been using to summon Okash before they continue the trial to make absolute sure that it would have nothing to do with what the locals were claiming.

After the trial the group was reassured by the man that Emma would probably not be executed so long as she didn’t do anything within the next year to make them think otherwise. For this reason she was unable to leave the town boarders for the next six months. Unfortunately this would mean that she could not keep her own business affluent since she was the only person who harvested the flowers of the local area for her shop. The group took on the responsibility of picking flowers every evening after they had finished their shift of watching the town.

Luckily they had fairly good directional sense, and memory to keep them from getting lost, or forgetting where the herbs were. The business was able to keep conducting business, and while the group did not get paid for their good deeds they were rewarded with knowing that such a heinous trial did not ruin one woman’s business. Unfortunately these peaceful nights did not all end on such a good note.

One night as they were coming back from picking flowers they smelled a fowl stench in the air on the boarders of Charleston. They went to the guards who watched the northern city limits, and one of them claimed that this was what he had smelled when the Gnolls had attacked months ago. Thankfully Rolind and Levi were all healed up from their grievous wounds that they had suffered from the bandit lords. They rallied the town guard, and two fifths of them moved towards the stench.

They were able to spot the Gnolls who had believed that they were being sneaky scouting out the town. Quickly the large group of battle ready soldiers charged the small scouting party of Gnolls. It was a slaughter, but unfortunately it was not unheard. A screechy piercing howl sounded in the distance as the men began reloading their gunpowder rifles they could hear the sound of a thunderous charge begin to echo from the North. Finally figures could be seen in the shadows, and Kai decided to use his empty flower pot on the first Gnoll of the group.

Marauders by stephen crowe

Throwing the flower pot Kai managed to nearly knock the Gnoll in a headdress unconscious, but the remaining Gnolls that were charging just behind it were unphased by one Gnoll getting injured. The battle between the two large groups was intense. Many good soldiers had died, and the spiteful Gnoll who had taken the flower pot to the head jabbed Kai with his spear nearly running Kai through. Kai unfortunately fell to the ground injured, and dying from such a horrible wound. The remainder of the battle ended fairly quickly, and the remainder of the party patched up their fallen comrade, and saved the life of another soldier. Unfortunately there were only eight total soldiers outside of the group who had lived through the battle.

As the area quieted down the sound of battle could be heard from the other side of town, and the group separated leaving Levi to escort Kai to the infirmary, and Roland, the Gunslinger, and the Crusader to find out what was going on at the opposite side of time. As they neared they saw a Gnoll in a much more ornate headdress doing battle with the guards who had remained to protect the city. Quickly Rolind determined that he wanted that headdress for his own trophy collection since he was inspired by Kai giving up all of his previously claimed trophies to the Crusader who had downed the Gnoll who had defeated Kai.

Rolind took the first shot at the oncoming Gnolls just barely missing the Chieftain Gnoll’s heart. The remainder of the battle was fairly short ending in mostly a slaughter of the already battle weary Gnolls. As was hoped Rolind had slain the Gnoll Chieftain, and claimed some trophies off of him. Afterwards Marshal Sommers’ corpse was found amongst the dead, and a brief investigation from Rolind revealed that Sommers had been drinking before the battle. While this discovery unsettled everyone they still knew that they had to continue on. A funeral was held for all of the lost soldiers, and Marshal Sommers.

By the time Kai had mostly recovered from his wounds the new Marshal had arrived in Charleston. His name was Marshal James Fletcher. Several more months went by under the newly appointed Marshal James Fletcher who had once made a mild comment about how the group should probably not work so hard for the Elven woman if they want to prove that they are not bewitched, but he never went any further than that. Eventually the six months that the group was stationed in Charleston had flown by before they knew it.

Upon them getting their orders to leave the group had begun packing when Emma approached them with a spectacular bouquet of flowers in an ornate pot. She gave the bouquet to the group, and thanked them for everything that they had done. While she knew the bouquet had no use to them since they lived in a barracks it was the only thing she could give them as a parting gift. The group gladly accepted, and were happy that one person waved them off as they finally left Charleston some of them vowing to return when her trial would come up to make sure she would be safe from an unjust persecution.

Five days went by before they finally had made it back to [[Julio’s Landing]], and they noticed that the walls had been fixed over the span of the six months they had been gone. While Kai went to return the books that he had ruined in combat he was chased out by the angered librarian who wasn’t going to leave him alone until she had received payment for her destroyed property. Luckily Rolind paid her what Kai owed since Kai at this point had no money. Rolind decided to give Kai an allowance so that this wouldn’t happen again. With money now in his hands Kai set off for a new store full of books.

Meanwhile Levi, and the Gunslinger reported back to Marshal Deviticus Salrin who was pleased to see that they had made it through their long service. Unfortunately his happiness quickly turned to irritation as he realized that their next mission was issued by Amilio Devaughny who wanted them to check [[Dragon’s Head]] for possible Elven hideouts since Elves had been spotted by the scouts in the area. Unfortunately this mission required Amilio’s servant, Charles, to give them the packet full of plans for this mission that specifically told them their every move while in [[Dragon’s Head]]. From there Salrin begrudgingly told the two to go back and rest up for the night since Charles, and Devaughny were already off duty. The two agreed and made their way back to the barracks.

Elsewhere Kai had arrived at his destination. The magic shop he had seen while originally exploring the town. This magic shop was known as “The Magician’s Trick”. Inside he saw an elderly woman who appeared fairly ugly even for a woman of her age. He inquired about her book selection, and she began searching for a book named, A Brief History of The Lanian Empire. While she was looking for that Kai spotted a book that was written in the language of the Kami. The book’s name was A Summary of Animal God’s and Their Kin.

Kai asked about the book, and with much effort the woman read the title, and only got one word wrong. Kai began to question how she knew the language, and she claimed that she had traveled all over the world in her youth. After finally examining Kai more closely she then claimed to know exactly where he was from. Kai paid for the book, and left the shop pleased to know of someone he liked was with [[Julio’s Landing]]. From their he made his way back to the barracks to get a good night’s rest along with the others…

Note: I know I got Rolind’s name wrong a few times in this since I got half way through writing this before realizing I was still spelling it as Roland; so no I don’t intend to fix it since I’ve already spent enough time writing this. XD

Wolf God Okash
and Bandit Lords

As the group managed their way back to the Fort they noticed in the trails that they followed there was a large amount of paw prints of various sizes in the trails that had originally only been made out of Elf foot prints. They continued on for a full day’s march back to the Fort. All the while Kai was constantly making his way off trail to pick berries, and Roland was struggling with the wolf pup that he had captured. By the time they arrived back at the Fort it was dusk.

The guards didn’t give much objection to them coming in since they had plenty of fish, wolf meat, and berries. Kai decided to help the head chef, Levi made his way to the command post, Roland was fighting off several soldiers who wanted to kill the wolf pup, and finally the Gunslinger made his way to the barracks to rest for another day’s march in the morning. The chef didn’t take too kindly to Kai’s constant nagging on how the chef should cook the meat, and showed obvious signs of being a stubborn and terrible cook.

Levi reported in to the drunken Talric who was brooding over the terrible situation the colony seemed to be in. Talric decided to send Levi, and the rest of the party back to Julio’s Landing to report back to their Marshal. The only thing special about their mission was to take a Crusader with who had lost his entire squad from wolves on his way to the Fort from Julio’s Landing. Levi agreed and decided to get some food, and sleep before leaving in the morning. While the wolf meat was terrible every soldier appeared extremely grateful to taste seared flesh once more.

The night was filled with various wolves across the lands around the Fort calling out. While the party was informed that there was a wolf attack previously the wolves somehow knew to take the bodies of their dead away from the Human Fort. While the news of intelligent wolves seemed odd Roland believed a theory he had made that the Wolf God Okash was able to control other wolves was what was happening in the regions around the Fort. After meeting the Crusader who didn’t appear in too rough condition the group made their way to bed.

With morning came drill. Everyone save for Roland participated. The wolf pup Roland had captured had begun another day without Roland being able to control it. After drill the group ate breakfast, and got some stale bread as trail rations, and finally departed Fort Langston. On the way to Julio’s Landing they were ambushed by several wolves. The fight was fierce, but the group managed to walk away without taking too much damage.

The remainder of the trip they kept hearing the unnaturally loud howl of Okash, but he was in the direction of Julio’s Landing. After several more hours of marching it was midafternoon when the group had finally arrived outside of town. There was a large gap in the walls, and plenty of wolves flooding into the city. Quickly the party ran into the fray. The fighting was fairly intense, but due to how injured the wolves were in previous fights the group was able to dispose of them with ease. Finally they had made it to the large gap in the walls. While it appeared that some of the stones were scorched the smell of gunpowder did not emanate from the walls.

As they passed through the walls they saw a large brawl occurring between man and beast near the castle walls of Julio’s Landing. The group quickly scurried there after Kai detached a large segment from a nearby fountain. Once they arrived they joined in the large melee. They noticed Deviticus Salrin was present in the battle, and with the help of their commanding marshal, and several other soldiers they began slaughtering the wolves. The battle wasn’t completely one sided as several grievous bites were given to some of the group members, and many soldiers in the surrounding area were defeated by the beasts.

After a long fight the group came out victorious. The clerics from the town’s infirmary managed to arrive just in time to lend some quick support healing to the group before making their way into the castle gates. Then the extremely loud howl of Okash sounded. The group turned their attention to the North of town and saw a wolf as large as a building move to the walls. Another loud howl and a bolt of lightning came from the sky, and demolished another segment of the town walls. Okash entered into the city and began to feast on the guards that were atop the ramparts who continued to take shots at him. After only a short while of watching the Wolf God get a quick meal the group began to see him approach their location.

Okash

While Okash made his way into the castle almost the entire group retreated into the gates to man the bombards on the walls of the castle. One man however refused to back down. That man was Kai Hanabo who had the genius idea of climbing Okash to attack from on top of the massive beasty. Unfortunately for Okash, Kai succeeded in climbing atop the gargantuan wolf. The group loaded up the cannonballs into the bombards and prepared to fire at the monstrosity before them. Salrin also helped man a bombard, and before too long they began firing on the massive beast just nearly missing Kai. While this was occurring Kai had taken his mathematical compass, and began stabbing into Okash’s back. Amazingly he sliced in far enough to reach the spine of the Wolf God, and caused a massive amount of damage with one of the smallest of instruments.

The battle continued with Okash finally rolling and managing to get Kai to loosen his grip enough to jump to the ground. With this another round of cannonballs flew from the castle ramparts causing a good amount of damage on the massive wolf. Kai was now safely out of the way of the cannon fire, and struck the wolf as it reared its head in to bite him with a head-butt. This caused little damage to Okash, but regardless Kai couldn’t avoid the Wolf God’s massive maw completely as it bit into him causing a decent amount of damage, but Kai managed to escape from being swallowed whole.

The cannons continued to fire from the group, and with massive hatred towards their barrage Okash let out one of his monstrous howls putting Salrin, Roland, and the Crusader into a fear paralysis. A final barrage of cannon fire, and the great beast smashed against the ground letting out one final breath before passing on. At this point all of the remaining wolves began scampering away in a full retreat. Without their god to lead them they were broken, and lost.

The remaining soldiers began to make their way outside of the castle walls and from various sects of the city to view the great corpse. Kai recited a prayer in the language of the gods, and echoing in his head he heard the voice of Okash vowing revenge. Kai decided this knowledge should remain secret from everyone else which was a fairly good idea knowing how dangerous it would be to claim he was “bewitched” in a part of the Lanian Empire. Roland, and the Crusader recited a Final Church prayer, but heard no such voice.

After a brief argument between Roland, and the Crusader going up against the Marshals of Julio’s Landing it was decided that Okash’s body would be disposed of inside of the forests surrounding Julio’s Landing rather than being burned. Upon this being concluded it took the remainder of the day for the soldiers of the Empire to move the corpse to the woods. Before this happened Kai made sure to claim his prize from the gargantuan beast by placing one of its massive fangs atop his bamboo staff.

Several days later the group was told by a recruit ranked inquisitor that the Paladin Amilio Devaughny wished to speak with them all. After seeing all of the gaudy things that Amilio uses to furnish his room in the top floor of the command tower in the castle of Julio’s Landing, and being greeted by his pompous assistant Charles the group met the infamous Paladin. He lived up to every ill word spoken of him, and decided that the proper way to reward everyone from the party who helped in slaying Okash was to give them his personal commendations which had no value other than to show that he approved of an action they had done in the past. With that he stated that he had come up with their next assignment and sent them down stairs to Salrin who would brief them on it.

The commendations were quickly disposed of, and the party insulted the assistant Charles several times before getting briefed on their mission. Salrin told them that their next mission was to make their way to Charleston, a town named after Devaughny’s assistant Charles, and help defend it from an event that they believed was related to Okash. The Crusader was quick to identify what Salrin described in the report as an attack by Gnolls. There is a tribe of Gnolls who were ruled by Okash, and the Crusader believed that they were possibly going on a rampage from losing their lord.

After gathering supplies which consisted of several trained war horses, and a large cart filled with various camping supplies, and rations the group began their long journey. Four days of travel took them out of the Conqueror’s Forest, and put them inside of the Orsal Mountain Range. The path before them appeared to be carved out of the stone that would otherwise have made the mountain range rather difficult to travel through. After traveling within the mountains for several hours they were ambushed by a squad of bandits with matchlock guns.

This fight turned out to be very difficult as the bandits had several of these guns each, and all were fully loaded. Levi quickly began to climb up the twenty foot ledge that these bandits were shooting from. Kai threw his compass, but unfortunately missed. Roland shot out a bullet with his steam powered rifle, and slew one of the four bandits. Unfortunately the remaining ones seemed spiteful of this, and one managed a lucky shot into Roland’s throat. This quickly sent Roland to the floor as he passed out from immense blood loss within seconds.

As the battle continued Levi got to the top of the ledge, and was attacked by one bandit using the butt end of his gun as a club. Kai began to climb up the cliff face as well, and the Crusader continued taking shots from the ground with the Gunslinger who was hiding underneath the cart; all were thankful that the horses were battle trained so they didn’t sprint off from the sound of gunfire.

The fight raged on as Levi had slain the bandit that continued to attack him with his gun being an improvised club, but then getting shot in the lung by another bandit. This unfortunately sent Levi to the ground, and also caused him to be on the verge of death along with Roland. Kai knocked out his bandit, and the Crusader climbed to the top of the ledge and charged the remaining bandit. Finally they disposed of the final standing bandit, and threw the remaining bandit off of the ledge and killed him later on after they had finished patching up their friends that were on the verge of death.

While badly wounded Roland and Levi lived to see another day. The remainder of the group ravaged through the bandits’ possessions revealing some various journals. The journals depicted how they arrived on Julio’s Landing, and made contact with some out of town merchants who sold them the guns. While the guns weren’t very good they would work for them. It took twenty minutes of reading through very poor Lanian in order for them to find out virtually nothing aside from these bandits had been out here for a few months slaying unsuspecting merchants, and officials as they passed and then looting them.

With this group of bandits quelled the group made their ways back to the cart and continued onward toward Charleston. Unfortunately while Roland and Levi weren’t dead they were both extremely wounded. Roland quickly used his skills in medical treatment to shave their recovery time in half, but that would still put them down to several weeks of being bedridden before they could finally participate in military activity again. They made camp one final time just after they had exited the mountains, and enjoyed another night of peace with no midnight ambushes.

The next morning they began their march once more and it only took three hours before they had finally arrived in Charleston. The town appeared to be on its last leg as they hadn’t even picked up the rotting corpses of the Gnolls they had slain several days beforehand. A makeshift barricade was seen right outside of town, and the group noticed guard towers were posted throughout the village. They were greeted by a man named John who had taken them to his commander Marshal Gerald Sommers.

Sommers was inside of the infirmary recovering from wounds he had suffered nights before from a Gnoll attack. Roland noticed that he was already intoxicated even though it was only late morning. Quickly the group took the bottle away from him, and he told John to brief everyone on their assignment even though John was a mere conscript. John took Kai, the Crusader, and the Gunslinger to their post on the Eastern side of town where they had a nice view of the Orsal Mountains from the guard tower there. The only concern is how they will manage to fight off a possible Gnoll attack with only half of the party in battle ready health…

The War Against The Elves

On a cold rainy afternoon an Imperial Frigate docks in Julio’s Landing. It has been half a year since the vessel was last docked, and its crew made landfall. Hundreds exit the vessel. Most sailors, but some are soldiers sent to reinforce the front lines of the colony. Defense from the natives is the current priority. A small group assembles as their Marshal calls out their names.

The Marshal is Diviticus Salrin. He is in charge of all of the Special Forces squads in the area. The squad is a ragtag group of randomized adventurers. There are four in all. One a doctor/scientist another is a confused monk from a far off land. Another man is a mysterious gunslinger, and finally an Imperial Scout. Whilst there are no foot soldiers amongst them Salrin believes it is a good crew mainly since the Lanian Empire saw fit to send a medic in this squad.

After a night’s sleep to rest they were given their first assignment. Patrol. For a week they patrolled the farmland road from Julio’s Landing to the Forest’s Edge without incident. Unfortunately for them their assignment was about to get much more complicated. One day while out on patrol the group noticed that they couldn’t hear the lumberjacks at the Forest’s Edge like they usually could. After realizing this they decided to investigate.

Once at a lumberjack’s camp sight they noticed a trail of blood leading off into the woods. The medic of the party realized that whomever left this blood trail lost too much blood to still be alive. With this in mind the group decided the best course of action was to get reinforcements before making their way into the forest. They reported to Deviticus Salrin, and he in turn got several groups that were guarding low priority areas to help with clearing out the incursion.

After dealing with the whiny soldiers for hours the group finally came across the blood trail once again. They followed the trail for many more hours, and whilst they did so the day grew late and the sky darkened. Hours after originally trekking into the dark forest they were ambushed by a hunting party of Elves. The battle that followed claimed the lives of three Imperial Soldiers, but the Lanian Soldiers were victorious.

The group managed to capture one Elf alive. Unfortunately no one could make the Elf talk so the group decided to drag him back to Julio’s Landing for interrogation. After having to walk the entire way back in the darkness the group finally made it back to the town’s walls when daybreak was near. Exhausted everyone save for the scout, and the monk went back to the barracks for a night of sleep. Those two felt they had an obligation to see what fate would follow the Elf.

Deep in the dungeons beneath the castle of Julio’s Landing the Elf’s screams could be heard echoing off of the stone walls as the inquisitor pried information out of the Elf. While the Monk quickly grew bored of seeing the darker side of the Lanian Empire the scout felt he had to see the entire interrogation for himself. After several hours of him watching his commanding Marshal Salrin approached him and ordered him to get some rest. The inquisitor didn’t seem to mind having the chance to work without being watched.

Upon going back to the barracks everyone was informed that their squad had the day off seeing as how they had such a late night they wouldn’t be at the top of their game in the morning for any type of military duty. The group rested in their own unique ways, and after a night off they all were given a new assignment by Salrin the next morning. They were told that they are finally to be on their way to Levious Talric’s Fort Langston.

After making the days march to Fort Langston the party had finally made it. They decided to report in and they actually managed to talk to the actual Grand Officer Levious Talric. He claimed to have a special assignment for them in the morning. As they rested up at the fort they realized just how understaffed, and unsupplied the fort was. Finally after a night of various activities they were all forced to do drill in the fort. The drill was several times more intense, but it wasn’t unbearable. After words they made their ways to the fort’s command.

Inside once more they found Talric brooding over battle plans, and failed skirmishes that were brought on by the Paladin who is currently leading Julio’s Landing. He decided to give the group an assignment to clear out a cave that the empire believed the Elves were using as a rest station as they went further into human territory. The group then set off. Some of them took the time to search for berries, and medical herbs on their way to the Elven rest way. They found, and followed several animal, and Elven pathways, but luckily were not ambushed on their way there.

Finally they found the cave. Outside they saw several Elves attempting to catch fish with their bare hands since there was a river right outside of the cave mouth. They decided not to ambush the Elves, but merely to observe. They only got the name of one of the Elves, before nightfall approached, and the Elves sought shelter within the cave. The party decided to follow some time later after the monk demonstrated his skill by catching a fish within five minutes the way the Elves failed to do in an entire afternoon. The doctor attempted to do so too, but failed miserably.

Inside of the cave the group saw various tribal markings, and drawings on the walls of the cave. The doctor of the party translated several confusing sentences with the world “Okash” in them, but he determined that it was the name of the large wolf on the drawings. As they made their way into the cave they heard several yips and growls from wolves. Upon making it into the Wolves’ room they finally were detected by the wolves. Luckily the monk distracted the little wolf, and one of the large ones with the fish he caught. The third, and final wolf however wasn’t swayed, and decided to grab the doctor’s hand to hold him there while the rest of the group left him behind.

After making their way further into the cave they could hear the Elves, and after hearing their voices growing concerned over the silence of the wolves the male Elf decided to check on the wolves. The party quickly ambushed, and disposed of this Elf. By this time the doctor had his hand let go, and managed to catch up to the party as the wolf had finally let him go. The two female Elves further in grew distressed that now the male Elf wasn’t coming back after several minutes.

A moment of attempting to scout out to make sure the Elven women weren’t going anywhere and the party attempted to catch up to the scout. Unfortunately for him the Elven women spotted him, and began to fire upon him. In the battle that followed plenty of fighting was done between humans and Elves, as well as between humans and humans. After the fight with the Elves was over with the wolves from the other room quickly rushed in due to the loud echoing sounds of gunfire. These wolves were dispatched quite quickly and a book was bent fairly badly as the monk used it to bash several wolf heads in with.

After this was done then the fighting within the group began. This was because of several moral obligations of not harming women were brought into play. The mysterious gunslinger believed that no women should ever be killed, and only allowed it to happen to the Elf woman in the hunting party two nights ago to be slain since she was in full hunters garb. After a while it was brought up that Elves had no qualms about bringing their women onto the battlefield, and believed that their women were just as skilled as their men at being soldiers.

After this long dispute was over the scout finally jerked away, and dug a dagger into the unconscious Elf’s skull. Another argument began, but was cut short with a loud howl. The party now noticed how much blood was on the floor, and how the crevices that appeared to be a simple design on the floor now were completely full of blood. It only took a moment to realize this was probably some sort of Elven ritual that they had completed for the Elves. An eerie night of sleeping in the cave followed since they didn’t want to be caught outside with whatever beastie made that noise during the night.

A night of listening to the howl grow further and further away to the south, as well as the pitter patter of passing animals in the trees followed for the monk who was on first watch. By the time second watch came the wolves had all already passed by. The wolf they let live due to the doctor wanting a pet for some reason was whining, and being unreasonably vicious. Finally dawn broke, and the party began to head back towards Fort Langston to report back to Talric, and hopefully get away from whatever was in the woods…

Welcome to your Adventure Log!
A blog for your campaign

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
